HASLAM ANNOUNCES TENNESSEE STUDENTS CONTINUE TO IMPROVE

Bill Haslam and State Education Commissioner Kevin Huffman today announced that statewide student performance on the 2012 Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP) improved for the second year in a row, as the state continues to push toward academic achievement through its First to the Top education reforms.

Pre-Kinder Success at Corning Achievement Elementary

Corning Elementary’s Pre-K program will prepare early childhood students (ages 4 and 5) for Corning’s rigorous Kindergarten curriculum. Students will grow academically, socially, physically, and emotionally through their experiences in character development, literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, music, art, and physical education.Corning’s Early Childhood department will also set the stage for parental involvement in our school. Parents and families will be asked routinely to participate in various aspects of thePre-K environment; thus building and maintaining a strong relationship between our classrooms and our students’ homes. Students and parents alike will be challenged to invest their time, energy, creativity, and talents in Corning’s Pre-K program.
